Police in Louisiana recently arrested two men that they say are responsible for a fatal shooting in the Zachary area. The charges against these gentlemen are quite severe and the potential consequences if they are convicted are much the same. Each of the accused would likely benefit from having an experienced criminal defense attorney fighting for them well before their cases go to trial.
At approximately 11 a.m., on June 9, police responded to reports of a shooting at a home located on Lemon Road. When they arrived, they found a 23-year-old with a gunshot wound. This individual was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
According to reports, the accused individuals went to the home to find an unidentified male in his late 20s with whom they had an alleged ongoing dispute. When they arrived, the individual they were looking for and the gunshot victim supposedly asked them to leave. While the brothers were in their car, one of them allegedly threatened to shoot one of the victims. The 23-year-old then pulled a gun and is said to have shot first, causing both brothers to open fire out of self-defense.
Both of the accused were promptly arrested and transported to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. They are both facing attempted murder, murder and weapons charges -- among a few others. It is unclear when their cases will be heard in court.
When facing charges like these, it is easy to feel hopeless and helpless. Thankfully, criminal charges are not anything that Louisiana residents have to face alone. A criminal defense attorney can help these brothers as they work their way through the court system by reviewing the details of their cases, questioning any evidence offered against them and presenting the best possible defense on their behalf in an effort to seek the best outcome possible under the circumstances.
