Zachary is no stranger to motor vehicle accidents. They happen here far too often, and, unfortunately, some have tragic outcomes. Most recently, a fatal car crash claimed the life of an individual from Baton Rouge.
According to reports, the victim -- a 35-year-old female -- was operating her vehicle on US Highway 61, in the northbound lane, when she was struck by another car. The driver of the car is said to have lost control and crossed the center median, ultimately hitting the victim's vehicle head-on. The woman was rushed to a local hospital for treatment, but she died shortly after arrival.
The identity of the driver believed responsible for the crash has not been reported just yet. As of the latest report, it is unclear if any charges have been or will be filed against this individual. The Louisiana State Police are still in the process of investigating the incident.
There is nothing easy about dealing with the aftermath of a fatal car crash, whether it happens in Zachary or elsewhere. Between coping with the shock, sadness, anger and a million other emotions that come rushing in, funeral planning, adjusting to life without one's loved one and figuring out how to cover all the financial consequences that follow this type of event, there is little time for anything else. Know that all of these things do not have to be borne alone. When the dust settles and one is ready, it may be possible to seek compensation for any legally recoverable losses by filing civil claims against the driver responsible for the collision.
